Nice to meet you again,
happy new year!

Happy New Year “Illustrated Characters”

Today, I went to XROSS HOUSE for New Year's visit.

What is Ujigami? ?

Do you all know what a guardian deity is?
In Japan, an ujigami is a Shinto deity that is worshiped jointly by people living in the same area (village).

Simply put, it is a shrine that protects the area where we live.

So, I learned for the first time last year that it is actually better to go to a shrine where the guardian deity is on New Year's visit.

Since XROSS HOUSE also moved to Yoyogi last year, I searched for the guardian deity of XROSS HOUSE!

You can find out the guardian deity of Tokyo by asking here 👇

By the way, the guardian deity of XROSS HOUSE was Yoyogi Hachiman Shrine!

Make a bonfire

By the way, at the end of the year, people in Japan put out kadomatsu.

In Japan, this is something that is placed in front of the entrance in preparation for welcoming the gods.
We also decorate the XROSS HOUSE every year~♪

The kadomatsu is usually cleaned up by January 7th (in the Kanto region) and then taken to the shrine to be lit.

*It seems that 1/15 is common in Kansai.

By the way, what is akiage?
Items that appear to have souls in them and cannot be treated with care, are held by monks or priests at temples or shrines, and then burned.

to return to heaven

It seems that in some regions, it is called "Dondo-yaki".

Surprisingly, there are many things that even Japanese people don't know.

The torii gate was cool...

Unfortunately the weather wasn't very good,

Inside the temple grounds, the air was clear...

Depending on the shrine, you may be able to see the bonfire.

At this shrine, if you drop off your belongings at the shrine, they will burn them all together.

It was surprisingly light. (lol)

I also visited the shrine a lot!

I think last year was a tough year for everyone.

This year, the coronavirus will subside and I hope everyone can come to Tokyo as soon as possible...

At the end, I made sure to draw a fortune (lol)

The result was unexpected

Great luck!

Hehehe...

Good start!

I hope this year will be a wonderful year for all of you!

Well then!
