History of Jujo

A village spread around Jujo Station, centered on the current Tokyo Prefectural Route 460, Jujo Akabane Line.

After the abolition of feudal domains and establishment of prefectures, it belonged to Urawa Prefecture (currently Saitama Prefecture), but in 1871 it was incorporated into Tokyo Prefecture (currently Tokyo Metropolitan Government).

It also has a history as a military capital, as there was an army military manufacturing factory nearby.

After the Great Kanto Earthquake, people moved from other areas because the impact of the earthquake was less.

Although the area is currently being developed as a residential area, the appearance of an old-fashioned shopping street remains.
