It was originally included in Urawa Prefecture (currently Saitama Prefecture), but later was incorporated into Tokyo Prefecture (currently Tokyo Metropolitan Government).

Plans for the redevelopment project will begin in 2021, and a large office, commercial, and residential complex is scheduled to be built in front of the station by 2028.
