History of Gotokuji Temple

Gotokuji, which is also the name of the station, is a structure built in 1480 by Kira Masatada, the lord of Setagaya Castle.

The area near Gotokuji Temple was also the main part of Setagaya Castle.

It is now one of Setagaya Ward's tourist attractions.

Gotokuji Station opened in 1927.

In 2004, it was set up as a stop for regional semi-express trains, but in 2016, the regional semi-express service was discontinued, and currently only station trains stop here.

Although no major redevelopment has taken place in the surrounding area, the number of single people moving here has increased in recent years due to its good accessibility to the Shinjuku area.
