History of Waseda


The area around Waseda was originally a rural area called ``Waseda Village.''

With the establishment of Tokyo Senmon Gakko, the predecessor of Waseda University, in 1891, the area developed into an educational district.

The number of boarding houses, restaurants, and real estate agencies for students gradually increased.
